birthday-images-background-1Yep, today is my Birthday! I’m now mumble-mumble years old and still ticking along, like the old Timex commercial (takes a licking and keeps on ticking). Sometimes I’m amazed that I’ve lived so many years, and almost every single one of them has been full of happiness and good things, especially books and music and of course people.

Yesterday was a Not Nice Day. It rained and it was really, really windy, gusts up to 50. The guys were here to do the landscaping work and spread yards of soil amendments, which we do every other year, and it was nasty working conditions. Then about 2:00 in the afternoon we lost power and it was out for about 6 hours. We’d planned to have my birthday dinner a day early; ribeye roast, mashed potatoes, etc. No power. We have candles and the gas fireplace works fine, so we had light and heat but the roast was in the oven and the oven is electric. We now have a half done roast which we’ll try to finish this afternoon, though how exactly we’ll do that is unclear as I write this.

It’s not as windy today, but still raining. Opened a couple of gifts (see New Arrivals, coming Wednesday) had a nice breakfast and it will be an inside day, maybe watch some football, definitely do some reading.

Happy Birthday! Our Anniversary was the 24th, as previously mentioned.

Weather here is nice. Yesterday was upper 60s and beautiful. Today is cool, upper 50s and windy, but the sun is out and it is pretty nice.

  6. Happy Birthday! Sounds like you should ask for a natural gas stand-by generator as a present!

  7. Jerry House says:

Congratulations! Some people just sit back with some Ovaltine but REAL MEN dine on half-cooked meat. Enjoy the day.

  8. Richard, belated at my end but seeing as you still have some hours of October 26 left, here’s wishing you a very Happy Birthday with good health and happiness in every way.

Jerry, maybe we should have put it on a stick and tried cooking it over a fire. Next year I’ll just ask to have pancakes.

Charles, it was, it was. Today I’m beck on the straight and narrow – birthday cake cost me a 1.5 lb. weight gain!

  16. Richard says:

Delia, thanks very much. I haven’t dropped in on your blog in a while, will do so this week!

  17. Well, at the very least your birthday was quite memorable! 🙂 Happy (belated) birthday, my friend. I hope all the not nice stuff didn’t entirely spoil the day.
