This evening the NFL draft begins, a total of seven rounds over three days, held at Radio City in New York. Since I’m primarily a football fan, the pro draft is about the only event of interest to me this time of year, and I’ll be watching to see who goes where and especially who the Seahawks pick.
Who’s your favorite pro football team, what do they need to get better, and who do you think they might draft?
Most people are surprised to learn that THE NFL DRAFT show is ESPN’s show with the highest ratings. Of course, most of the Draft is hype and marketing. The Buffalo Bills pick NUMBER NINE and unless some surprising trades occur, the Bills should draft an offensive tackle (but they really want a big wide receiver). Since this Draft is supposed to be “deep” I’d like to see the Bills trade down and get more picks. But, they probably won’t.
Looks like the Giants will go for a big offensive lineman.
Since the Seahawks are drafting last, I’m just hoping there will be a good left tackle or big, skilled tight end by that time. It will be interesting to see who takes a chance on “Johnny Football”.
I can tell you one thing, the Detroit Lions will disappoint their fans and make money for their owner. So many losing seasons should not be allowed.
I will probably just catch up after it is over. I used to watch it but Lana can’t tolerate it and we only have one TV so I’ll be doing other things.
Charles, I only watch the first round, usually. Barbara gets to watch newscasts every night from 5 to 7, during which I retreat to another room, so I take this one night and ask to watch the draft. Sometimes she watches some of it, usually she goes off and reads. I think the Saints got a got pick.
The Bills rolled the dice and traded up to draft the Best Receiver in the Draft, Sammy Watkins. But the price was hight: their First Round Pick in this year’s Draft (#9), their First Round Pick in the 2015 Draft and their Fourth Round Pick next year. If Watkins doesn’t pan out, heads will roll!
George, TWO first round picks? I was watching but didn’t catch that. Yes, Watkins is considered the best WR in this year’s group, so you may have gotten a winner, esp if Manual pans out and stays injury free.
Seattle still hasn’t picked, having traded down from 32 to 40. I guess they figure whomever they want will still be there, and they picked up a third round pick.
The Bills picked up an offensive tackle from Alabama in the Second Round and a linebacker from Louisville in the 3rd Round. The Bills are drafting for need.
I can’t figure out what the heck the Seahawks are doing. Trading down is one thing, trading down and then further down and then skipping rounds… huh? At least they got an O lineman, but I think both picks are suspect, the WR too small, the lineman too slow.
