Power outage

best_9cea2efd4bb89adc14c0_power_outageI’m typing this on battery backup to the router and computer systems. The power is out, we’re in the middle of a huge storm, the remnant of a typhoon off the coast of China which is giving us a rain dump and very high winds. With the trees still in full foliage, there are trees down all over the area.

We only lose power once a year or so, not at all last year, so we don’t have a back-up.

I’ll post again for New Arrivals (there are lots) tomorrow night. Surely the power will be back by then.

  1. Bill Crider says:

Hey, as long as the computer’s working on the backup, you’ll be okay, right?

  2. Hang in there, Rick! Your situation is exactly why Diane and I invested in a GENERAC stand-by generator. Storms are becoming more powerful and unpredictable with Global Warming.

  3. cgramlich says:

Hang in there. This too shall pass

  4. Jeff Meyerson says:

Bummer. We’re having gorgeous weather here. In fact they’re complaining about the lack of rain.

  5. Richard says:

Bill, the battery back-up is 1 hour, just long enough to shut everything down properly and send a couple of messages. After that, it’s no go.

George, we’re not going to spend the money for a once a year or every other year occurrence.

  6. Richard says:

Charles, of course it will. As you see, I’m back up now.

Jeff, this is the first big storm of the Fall-Winter, and much earlier then usual. Normally the trees have dropped their leaves so the wind doesn’t have such an impact.
