We’re off to the coast for a few days, so the blogging and commenting will be reduced. The weather was excellent last week, but this week it looks to be cold, dreary rain. Well it’s Oregon, after all. Our house / cat sitter will be here to take care of things so no worries.

It’s about a 2 hour drive from Portland to Lincoln City, the same up to Cannon Beach (plus stops) and again back home to Portland.
For those not familiar with Oregon, see image and it’s caption. We’ll stay in Lincoln City a night or two, then on to Cannon Beach for another couple of nights and be home for the end of the weekend. Here’s the route, highlighted:
There are a couple of good used book stores on this trip, especially Robert’s Books in Lincoln City. I have a list of wants. Beside books, we’ll be going to a glass blowing place we like, some galleries in Cannon Beach, Mo’s for chowder (there’s one in both cities) and a ceramics studio we want to visit. Also a botanical garden and a couple of state parks on the coast. Expect a report sometime after our return.
Cool. Have fun and find some good books.
Interesting itinerary, Richard. I await your report on this culture trip.
Have fun. We Easterners always assume (well, this one did anyway) that Portland is on the coast or at least on the water like Seattle. Of course my one visit there proved that wasn’t true, but I still forget sometimes how far from the Pacific you are.
Bill, thanks.
Prashant, not really culture, some art stuff, book stuff, walking on the beach… probably in the rain. But that’s what umbrellas, jackets and rain-proof hoodies are for.
Jeff, we’re at the junction of the Columbia and Willamette rivers, but a couple of hours from the coast. Since we’re at the top of the Willamette Valley we get a little less rain than Seattle.
Rick —
I’ll be travelling to the Portland area in August and I have already marked down the bookstore you mentioned as a stop. Enjoy your time off!
Have fun. Let us know about the books when you return.
John, maybe you can stop by and see us then. Just got back from Roberts, only got a couple off the list, but a few others too.
Hope your trip was a great one.
Only on day 2 Patti, steady rain but beautiful and fun anyway.
