Happy May Day!

IMG_1052Though late April was nice here the last couple of days were cold and wet. Plus we discovered a broken valve in our irrigation system that’s apparently been leaking for a couple of weeks before the water made itself apparent and we got it shut off.

It’s going to be in the low to mid 80s for today and for a week and we’ll have to hand water everything until our sprinkler guy can remove the pesky tree roots that caused the problem, get new valves and controller, put in a new box and get things working again.

No matter. Here’s a nice Spring picture of our lawn and a resident Robin, taken this morning. It’s my contribution to May Day.

In trying to locate the source of the new stream we had discovered, I dug holes all over the place that must be filled, the gravel walk must be repaired where I dug it up and so on. That’s for today. So you know what I’ll be doing on May Day. Hopefully, you will be enjoying flowers, your garden, or even dancing around the May Pole.

we are skilling right over spring. what a shame.

  2. The temperature hit 80 here today. We had snowflakes just a week ago so you can see we are an area of extremes. No dancing around the May Pole here, just correcting research papers. I am going to take a break on Friday to see IRON MAN 3.

  3. Richard says:

Patti, it sure does seem your area is skipping Spring. Maybe it will come along soon.

George, I saw you had grading to do. I’ll bet you’ll enjoy Iron Man 3. I enjoyed the first two when I saw them at home on small screen.

  4. Nice picture, Richard. My son and I spent May Day watching Tony Stark get anxiety attacks in IRON MAN 3, a rather silly film. Outside the multiplex the weather was 36 °C (96.8 °F) with humidity of over 60 per cent. Anything less than that is considered good weather in these parts.

  5. Jeff Meyerson says:

Loved the original IRON MAN but thought 2 was a big disappointment. If not for ScarJo it would have been a waste of time the way they wasted Downey. But THE AVENGERS suggests they’re back on track.

  6. Jeff Meyerson says:

Oh, weather. After a crappy March and April for the most part (though not in Detroit’s league) we are finally having beautiful spring weather: cool nights, mild days, low humidity.

  7. cgramlich says:

Rainy as everything here. May and April are one of our rainy seasons.

  8. Jeff Meyerson says:

Actually, today is just about perfect weather in New York. Around 70, perfectly clear blue skies, a bit of a breeze, low humidity. Could not be much nicer than this.

  9. Richard says:

Weather is all over the temperate and humidity range, eh? rain, sun, cold, hot. Snow in Denver yesterday. Charles has rain. It’s 79f here right now with 25% humidity, just about perfect for Portland. Tomorrow it’ll be hotter, and I’ll have to turn on the air for the first time this year.

  10. My lawn looks just like that…except for the bare spots, dandelions, and (recently) the snow! It is finally supposed to be in the 70’s this next week, with a couple of days of sun before returning to rain. I swear we’ve somehow been transplanted to Seattle and just haven’t realized it yet.
