Christmas Holiday time!

hrtrees1It’s getting to be a busy time of year, it seems. The Christmas / holiday push is on. I can’t say I’m very happy about it, but things must be bought, wrapped and shipped for those out of town friends and relatives, so Wife is in full cry at the mall(s) and elsewhere. I did convince her to buy some gift cards this year for a few people, which simplifies things somewhat.

Our outdoor lights are now up go per the timer at 4:30pm each day. Inside, nothing yet, the tree will be bought in another week or so; we usually get it around the 10th. Meanwhile, I had dentist yesterday, again next week and the week after. Yes, happy holiday season to me. Open wide…

CcardsI finished the Christmas cards a week or more ago and they went to the Post Office yesterday, so lookout, those of you on the list (and if you’re not, you must have been naughty!). We’ll get the tree next Friday or weekend and put it up and decorate it over the next couple of days. I buy a new ornament from a place called Artful Home – hand blown glass – each year and we enjoy seeing those and the other older ornaments each time, and the lights (grrrr) will go up. We’ll be getting a slightly smaller tree this year after my too big tree fiasco last year. Barbara has been wrapping stuff, mostly for shipping out of state. So we’re coming along. No eggnog yet, I have to go to the state liquor store and buy whiskey for that. We have all the stuff for our traditional Christmas breakfast (Alton Brown’s cinnamon rolls) on hand, as well as a couple pounds of Starbucks’ Christmas Blend. I however, have not shopped, wrapped or anything!

How is YOUR holiday planning, shopping, decorating- coming along?

We’re a little behind here at Chez Crider, but we’re working on it.

I’m in full holiday swing. For the past 10 years or more one of my birthday presents is to set up the indoor Christmas stuff and turn it on. The outside lights get set up early too but not turned on until Thanksgiving night. I did a little extra decorating today. We wrapped several presents last week as I had been shopping early with coupons I was getting. Bought Christmas cards yesterday so those will be going out shortly. Taking advantage of the Classic Christmas and Christmas Radio selections on Pandora through the XBox. Have watched a few Christmas-ish movies but this sudden warming trend has me wanting to hold off on the major ones until closer to the big day. Definitely enjoying the season this year.

  3. Most every thing has been bought but Mama and Stepfather. They are the hardest to find anything.

We gave up sending out Christmas cards many years ago. I think we are the better for it. 🙂

  5. The unseasonably mild weather here (50 today, 60 tomorrow…30 degrees or so above Normal!) make holiday shopping easier. Haven’t started on the Christmas cards yet. But the tree is up and lighted!
