Last year at this time the trees were mostly bare, the Fall color just a last hint of what had been only a few weeks before. This year, because we had lots of late season rain and Summer started later than usual and then was pretty hot, as I understand it, meant our Fall color was spectacular and has lasted longer than usual. I haven’t been here all that long, of course (see my forthcoming Tuesday post) but all the long-time residents say this is the best Fall color in many years. We’ve certainly been enjoying it.
Here’s a picture of the new Maple we put in our back yard. It’s doing it’s new tree best to join the show. Hope your Fall is great!
This looks a lot like the Japanese maple we have in our front yard. Because of our crazy weather, many of our trees still have leaves. Tomorrow, we’re supposed to be hit with gusty winds so that may finish the job before the snow shows up.
I haven’t seen a truly fine foliage change since I moved to Louisiana. We just don’t get them.
Charles, we didn’t get them in SoCal, this is my first experience with it, and it’s great. My wife had lots of it, as she grew up in PA and later lived in Denver for many years. We’re both quite pleased with this years’ display.
Rick, the same thing is true here – hot summer, especially July, followed by record rains in August and September, and the trees are still full of leaves and very colorful in mid-November, all despite the freak October snowstorm.
Still a lot of leaves on trees here. Color has been great but cleaning them up is a chore with the high winds this year.
I miss the beauty of fall (and spring) here in florida. your leaves are beautiful! thank you for sharing!
