Instead of a Friday Forgotten Book today it’s going to be a brief post on the new stuff I got at birthday mine on Wednesday. It was a great day. This takes the place of the New Arrivals post I do on Mondays.
I’m just going to put in the pictures and cover scans and let you see for yourself. I actually got the watch a few days early. It’s the first analog watch I’ve had since the early ’80s.
In addition to what you see above there were a T-shirt, calendar, apple cider, book mark and other goodies, including some toffee.
Glad you had a great birthday, Rick!
Great score! Love Bruckner, but never heard those Barenboim recordings. Not familiar with the other composers’ work pictured.
Woo! Great birthday haul! Love the watch, especially.
Mmmmm…toffee.
Congrats on your annual promotion in the Old Coot’s Brigade!
Happy belated, Rick! I might be the only (other, with Cullen?) to envy you more the Bruckner set than the watch, I hope it all helped make the day and the week cheerful and affirming. And I cite one of your years’-old FFBs in mine this morning…
Thank you, one and all! The watch was sort of a 50/50 gift, I needed a new one and Wife said “lets make it a birthday gift” but it came out of the joint account – which is the only one we have any more…
Today is her last day at work, her retirement officially begins at 5:00 p.m. today! So now we’re an old retired couple living in Portland. Life is good, though the book budget just took a big hit. That’s okay, I have lots here I haven’t read and/or want to re-read.
Congrats to her and to you both. I can think of nothing more rewarding than hitting the point of being a “retired old couple”. I’m sure you will both have many adventures in this new chapter in your life.
Thanks vary much, Carl.
As half of an “old retired couple” for seven years now I can highly recommend it.
Congratulations, and belated Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday. Mine are never belated; I keep celebrating them for days.
Happy belated Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday and Happy Retirement! A nice haul of B-day presents, too!
and then on top of that there were 2 new arrivals… for tomorrow
Quite a festive birthday. Hope it was the best ever.
Thanks, Patti, it was a very good one, to be sure. Best ever? I’m not positive, but that may have been either 21 or 40.
