The moon was a dandy last night, I hope everyone had a chance to see it. Not every year that the Autumn Equinox and full moon coincide.

For people in many places, the coming of Autumn means cooler weather, Fall color, a change of season. Here in southern California where I live, it’s same-o, same-o, except it usually gets hotter in September and October. Also, October begins our “fire season”, when the Santa Ana winds blow in off the desert and dry up the foliage, providing crisp, dry fuel for fires set by nature and (sadly) man. No Fall color here, it doesn’t get cold enough. Even in December it can get hot, I’ve seen Christmas days with temperatures in the 90s.

Never mind that, here’s a picture of what I guess Autumn ought to look like. Enjoy.

  1. My guess is that Autumn (and Winter) in Portland will be way different than Autumn and Winter in So Cal. The trees are changing here in Western New York. I can’t wait for a frost so that all that annoying pollen that is kicking up my allergies will go away.

You’re in luck. That looks like a picture of Oregon.

    Well okay, that’s good.

  4. I moved to the New England area early this year and everybody was saying that Fall here is awesome… Can’t wait for the color to change…

    Nice picture.

Your last autumn without seasons. Enjoy.

I imagine next year you’ll get to enjoy a proper, fire-free Autumn. The moon was great last night, I caught a glimpse of it a couple of different times. Lovely.
