New Arrivals August 8 – 14, 2011

After last weeks surfeit of book goodness, a return to a sensible amount of additions. One, actually. I’ve already noted in last week’s FFB that this has just come out.

The God of the Hive by Laurie King [Bantam Books 2011 trade paper, new] – mystery – the tenth in the Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes series, just out in trade paper. This is a series I greatly enjoy.

  1. A very eye-catching cover! The Kelleys will be wining and dining the Abbotts and the Meyersons tonight. Frozen custard might be on the dessert menu.

  2. A great title! I love good titles.

  3. Richard says:

Sorry the image wasn’t clickable before, I fixed it.

  4. Jeff Meyerson says:

Yes, frozen custard (chocolate and kahlua in my case) was definitely on the menu, as was some good Italian food beforehand. Thanks to George for dinner yet again.

I read the first of King’s other series and the first of her Holmes series but neither prompted me to read more.

As for books, no new arrivals here last week though three were waiting for me when we got home last night, including one from Crippen & Landru.

  5. Patti Abbott says:

I got about six books on a trip but haven’t sorted through them. I have a friend who loves the Laurie King series.

  6. Richard says:

Jeff, I’ve been expecting a C&L box, as the charge showed up on the credit card statement, but nothing so far.

Patti, certainly would like to hear what you got. In NY, yes?

  7. Jeff Meyerson says:

We went to a huge book warehouse place in Canada and Patti got a few things. All we bought was a bunch of greeting cards they were selling for 79 cents each.

  8. Yvette says:

Love the Laurie King series. Didn’t realize the new book was out. I thought it was next month. Have to get a copy for sure.
